Finally! The day is here! November 6, 2012, election day!
I must admit, I have been waiting for this day for a couple of reasons. One reason is, I simply want it to be over with. I have grown weary of the “battle”, and I’m ready for the focus to shift from “who the best person for the job is“, to “the person doing the job the best that they can“.
Another reason I’m excited for this day, is because it is my opportunity as a citizen of the United States to express my opinion freely, and without fear. I hear it over and over again, and I guess I get a little used to the fact that this is my right, etc., and I have a tendency to forget just how unique this opportunity is.
But when I step into this little booth, and fill in the circles with the little black pen, I am reminded of so many things, and this moment becomes a very powerful moment of mixed emotions!
I feel honor, pride, power, enthusiasm, hope, and confidence that I am doing the right thing.
A lot of people over the course of history have fought hard to give me this opportunity, and I am forever grateful to them. The opportunity to make a difference on a grand scale, impacting generations to come.
Yes, it’s my right to vote, and I believe it is also my duty to vote. And when I step out of the voting booth, I am given this little sticker that I am proud to wear and proclaim to the world….I voted!
