Thankful Thursday: 3 gifts entwined

1. Our hands entwined, forever!
32 years and counting! I like to think that holding hands, might just be one of the secrets to our success! 🙂

2. A symbol of two sisters, and a reminder of how their lives entwined with mine. They are gone now, but I will never forget how their lives touched mine.

What about you?

There are a lot of bad things in this world, but there are a lot of good things too. I would love to hear more about the good things.

Will you join me in looking for these gifts and sharing them with others?

Hang in there!

So….I haven’t been feeling too well this last week or so.  Came down with this nasty cold that kind of just makes you feel like…well…….a smashed potato!

You know, the cold with the sore throat, snotty nose, and aching body.  I could have been the perfect specimen for the nighttime NyQuil commercial!

And through it all, my husband has been AMAZING!

So, this is a huge SHOUT-OUT to him for being so awesome and taking good care of me, and giving me all the things I need to make me feel like a “real” person again!

He’s put up with my heavy breathing…OK, he’s put up with my snoring! He’s cleaned the house, including vacuuming the floors! He’s cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner for me too!

And…he has made me endless cups of tea (with lemon and honey added too!)

He hasn’t complained a single bit! Has offered words of encouragement at every turn.

Even when selecting the mug he used to put my tea in, he made sure it would brighten my day!

He is one awesome guy, and I am so thankful that he is in my life!

I know he is going to read this, so I just want to tell him……..(the rest of you don’t have to read the last line if you don’t want too!) 🙂

There just aren’t enough words to really express how I feel, but I LOVE YOU OH SO VERY MUCH! Thank you for taking such good care of me!  You’re the best!

Another milestone on this journey!

I was notified just the other day by the cool people at Word Press, that I have reached another milestone in this fascinating world of blogging!

Wow! I know I’m just a little fish in a very, big pond, but this is just pretty awesome to me!

I’m amazed.

I’m humbled.

I’m in awe of the world around me!

This adventure called “blogging“, has made my life a lot more interesting!  I’m “meeting” new people, and “traveling” to places I may never visit in person!

It’s really quite fascinating!

Thank you so much to everyone who has encouraged me by clicking on the little button of affirmation!

I really am just a quiet person in a loud world….and this milestone…well, it just makes me smile 🙂

Thanks again!

I hope you have a wonderful “Thankful Thursday!”

It’s official! First day of Spring!

Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;
To-day the glint of green is there;
Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;
I know no thing so wondrous fair,
No miracle so strangely rare.
I wonder what will next be there!

Re-blogged from “Morning Story and Dilbert”

Sharing a cute story with a good lesson to learn and remember. I especially like the line that says “Don’t put the key to your happiness in someone else’s pocket…keep it in your own”.
Hmmm

Morning Story and Dilbert

When I was a kid, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad.

I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my Mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don’t remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every bite!

When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my Mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I’ll never forget what he said: “Honey, I love burned…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Lunchtime

I usually don’t take pictures of my food, and most of the time, it’s a challenge just to eat lunch!

But once in a while, we take a break from eating good stuff, and go for something like this!

An all American favorite for lunchtime…cheeseburger and fries!

I don’t eat them very often, but when I do, “In-N-Out” is the place to go!

The “double-double” on the left was for my husband, I indulged in the “single” on the right.

Free books for kids!

My daughter is an avid reader. Has been since she was a toddler! So you can imagine her delight when she found the offer for free books in her “welcome home” package from the hospital after she had her first baby!

What a great idea! A book a month for your child, from birth to five years old!

Why not?

So she signed him up, and was quite delighted to receive a beautiful children’s book in the mail the very, next month!

Each month she receives a good quality book. No gimmicks, no tricks, just great age appropriate books! Most of them are hardback, some soft cover. All of them are very colorful, and intriguing!

The program is called “The Imagination Library“. The result of a dream and a vision that Dolly Parton had to provide free, high quality books to the preschool aged children in her county. It was her hope to instill the love of reading at a very early age.

The dream has grown since its inception in 1996, and today, free books are sent to nearly 700,000 young children each month, all over the world.

I think you’ll find like I did, it’s so encouraging to know that there are good people in this world who just like to do good things for other people.
