Spring forward! (aka…Daylight Saving Time Begins)

This year, Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins on March 10th.  That’s this Sunday!

It happens every year.  In the Spring and in the Fall.  In the Spring, we move our clock ahead one hour, in the Fall, we move our clock back an hour.

Spring Forward.  Fall Back.

It changes everywhere in the US, except for in:  Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, Arizona (with exceptions), Midway Islands, Wake Island, and a small region of Alaska.

The response to this yearly change varies, depending on who you ask. Some people like it, others hate it.

I just don’t like the change.  I mean really! I finally got all of the clocks in the house on the same time from the Fall change, and now it’s time to change them again!

Oh well.  I did learn something though.

I learned that I am not alone in this time change thing.  It happens all over the world!  I always thought that it was something that was practiced only in the United States.

Now I know differently.  Not every country, and not every state make the change, and the reason for observing it or not, differs, depending on what region of the world you live in.

I also found out that in Iceland, they observe DST all year round.  I guess if I get to the point that I really don’t like it here, I can always move to Iceland.

But for now, I’ll make the change both in my attitude and my clock, and Spring Forward!

Yes, it happens here in the UK, I quite like it, I like a disruption to the routine even if it takes a couple of days to get used to it!
