“If you are cold, tea will warm you,
If you are too heated, it will cool you,
If you are depressed, it will cheer you,
If you are exhausted, it will calm you”
– William Gladstone
It’s the perfect place to relax, and enjoy the fine experience of “afternoon tea“.
Today, this was my gift to my mom for Mother’s Day …. Tea for two.
The Aubrey Rose tea room in La Mesa, CA, offers a delightful experience to savor, both visually and for the palate.
We enjoyed some delicious tea, a most unusual flavor of chocolate and hazelnut for one of our choices, and the other a delightful blend of peaches and cream.
A light little cookie begins this amazing experience of afternoon tea! Oh to be spoiled like this everyday!
Some tasty tea sandwiches, and sweet treats were the perfect complement for the tea.
Of course tea just wouldn’t be complete without scones!
Fresh baked lemon, blueberry scones were the perfect touch to this delightful experience. Complete with lemon curd, and Devonshire cream.
Oh, so delicious !
Happy Mother’s Day to my mom – a most wonderful lady, with an abundant amount of unconditional love.
Thank you for always loving me! I love you!
love love love. 🙂 I like the pretty teapots and teacups more than the tea I suppose. 🙂
I love, love, love it too! I don’t know though, this tea is pretty amazing stuff! Not your ordinary house tea, that’s for sure! The flavors are so vibrant and just plain delicious. I think even a non-tea person would find themselves liking this tea! Maybe the pretty teapots and teacups are the secret to the delicious tasting tea! 🙂
There is absolutely no better gift than spending time with my daughter. She is a special gift to me from God. Thank you for the tea time and antique looking 🙂 I feel very special. I love you – Mom
Ahhh – you are so welcome! You are pretty special, and I love you too!
Gorgeous! Love the tea cups and the pots 🙂 Scones looked delicious!
I love the tea cups and the tea pots too! They have a way of making everything and everyone feel a little elegant. Probably makes the tea taste even better too! The tea is so good, wish I could try all of the different flavors, they have so many to choose from! And yes, the scones were delicious. Pretty much just melt-in-your-mouth delicious!
Tea definitely tastes better in china, that’s for sure!
Oh, you are absolutely correct! Crisp and refreshing, and just plain delightful!
Yummy! Looks like a lovely afternoon.
It was delicious, and yes, a very wonderful moment! I love those tasty little sandwiches, and sweets that they make, and the tea is mmmmm good!
Wonderful! One of my favorite things. I LOVE the poem. I’ve never seen it before. It’s going in my commonplace book for sure!
Oh I just love having tea! There’s just something about it that makes it seem like it tastes so much better then the tea I make at home! I thought the little poem was cute – and pretty much sums it up! It was on the brochure that the tea shop hands out, it’s such a lovely place. I’m glad you enjoyed it too!
I have a tea board on PInterest and can’t wait to pin it (thanks for allowing that BTW). I love going to the tea shops. My daughter amuses me by doing it, but we’ve been to so many mediocre ones, we’ve given it up for now.
Of course, I do like this one after I’ve been at Colonial Williamsburg for my photos:

Hey! This is pretty cool! What a pretty collection you have!
Oh how fun it would be to go to the tea shops with my daughter. She would probably do it just to amuse me also, but still, it would be fun! My husband comes along with me from time to time, although I have yet to get him to have tea with me! One of these days, I think he will succomb to my request 🙂 A really nice tea shop is like finding a very special treasure!
Oh my, I wished I was on your side of the continent just to go to this amazing place. This is a sensual cultural tea-time experience, for sure!
Well, if you every happen to find yourself on this side of the world, you might want to check it out! It’s one of the best places I have ever been for afternoon tea – a true delight on so many levels!
