Well, this could be it!
Today just might be the day I get my cast off of my arm! It’s been 5 weeks since that fateful day. The day I fell off my bike and my arm collided with the sidewalk, resulting in a scaphoid fracture in my left arm.
My husband has been so patient and awesome through it all. You’ve heard of someone being your “right-hand man”? Well, I have an amazing “left-hand man” and I am so very thankful for him and his love and care for me. He’s simply the best!
I’ve tried to carry on life as “normal”, but it seems to have caused a bit of a slow down. Showers take a little bit longer, typing is a little painful at times, and cooking seems to have taken the biggest brunt of it all. I still haven’t figured out how to open a packet of sugar for my coffee with just one hand yet!
These are just a few of the little inconveniences that will hopefully be a thing of the past soon.
Just think, this could be the day that I’ll be back to “normal” like everyone else!
However, I’m a little leery about the prospects of a cast free arm. After all the reading I have done about this type of injury, it’s quite possible I’m in for another few weeks of this.
I know…I’m not suppose to believe everything I read on the Internet, but apparently this type of fracture can be a little quirky, and can be quite difficult to heal.
Hmmmm……
So, I’m holding out hope, because well, right now, that’s about all I have! I’m hoping this has healed quite nicely, and that there won’t be any residual pain/effect of this injury.
And now I’m off to the Doctor…and hoping for the best!!!
And?
Nope. Not today. Two more weeks & then I get it off. It’s getting better, but she said it needs to “cook” a little longer. *sigh*.
Ah well, two more weeks ?? Ain’t no thing π
Thanks for asking.
It will be okay! After 5 years of braces, my orthodontist finally took those d*&mn things off and then the very next visit HE PUT THEM BACK ON! Yes! He put my braces back on. I was 15 and crying like a toddler. But he wanted my teeth to be right, and well, after 5 years and I had been through what was a few more months and he was right of course and now that seems like forever ago. So hang in there, the cast will be off shortly and it will be even more healed. That’s a good thing, like straight teeth! π
Charlotte –
Thanks for the encouragement – it helps! π I went through the pain and agony of braces on and off several times in my teen years as well, so yep, I understand the importance of getting it right the first time. And the good news is, I’m going in this Friday to get my cast off! My Dr was off by a week, so I just need to have it on one more week!
Woo Hoo! I’m really looking forward to Friday! Hope I still have some skin left on my arm when I finally get this thing off! More updates will be coming next week, probably a picture too! π Until then, I’m hanging in there!
I’m sorry to read in the comments that it will be a few more weeks. All the best for a full recovery though!
Thank you so much – it won’t be long now! I found out today that I actually get to have it taken off a week earlier! So! I’m anxious for Friday, but hey! I CAN DO THIS! I appreciate your concern and comments – it’s getting better and brighter days are ahead! π
Oh, wow, that is pretty cool. I hope everything works for Friday then π
Hi Becky, i guess your “left-hand man” is in for an overtime which i know he will not mind doing so … all for his love for you π will pray for your full recovery … APRIL
Yep – and he’s doing a great job too! He hasn’t complained once – he’s just great! Thank you so much for your kind words and your prayers! It looks like I’m going to be getting this cast removed on Friday! I can hardly wait! π
I hope you are cast-free by now. π
Not yet – going to the Dr. on Friday and I have been told it will be removed! YAY! I’m really looking forward to it!
