My two older sisters have both passed away in the last few years.
I miss them so very much!
I have become a Grandma three times over since then, and their children have each had babies since they have passed away.
Being a Grandma and being nostalgic just seem to go hand-in-hand 🙂
Lately I have found myself becoming a little nostalgic and wistful as I watch their grand babies grow.
My sisters were amazing moms. Â I just know they would have loved being Grandmas to these sweet little girls….

You have a generous heart Becky and these little ones, and your sisters, are lucky they have you in their lives. No better way to learn love than by one who has mastered love.
Thank you for your kind words. I learned a lot from my sisters, and if there was one thing that I would say about them, they absolutely LOVED their families. So, it’s an honor for me to love their little ones in their absence, but I can’t help but think how thrilled they would have been to have these little people in their lives 🙂
This may sound crazy, but Becky I think in a way we yet don’t know about yet your sisters DO have those little ones in their lives.
Nope – doesn’t sound crazy at all! I know that they are enjoying their view of them from heaven 🙂 And that is a fact that comforts me…
Sisters are blessings from heaven and your memories are your treasures ☮
You are absolutely correct! I am the baby of the family, and it took awhile for me to really see the friendship value of my sisters. But, when I finally did, it was a very special relationship, and yes, a memory that I treasure and hold close to my heart. I so wish they could share in these special moments with me today.
I’m sure your sisters are both smiling because you are obviously doing a great job being a grandma to their grandkids! The love between sisters, it really is something isn’t it?
Oh yes, I know that my sisters are smiling 🙂 And that makes me smile too. I’ve got some pretty big shoes to fill though, because they would have been some pretty awesome grandma’s that’s for sure!
And that “sister love” – yep, I miss it.

Beautiful babies and lovely sentiment – so many things and experiences hold more value when you can share them with those you love. Very glad that your grandbabies (and great nieces/nephews) have you!!!
Thank you for your sweet comment. You said it so much better then I did. Yes…I wish they were here with me to share these life experiences. That’s it! That’s what I was trying to say! Thank you! 🙂
I am also so very glad that I have my grand babies, and my great nieces too – they have put so much joy in my life, I just can’t imagine them not being in it!
I know that feeling – as a relatively new aunt myself – it really is an amazing experience. Sounds like you are making the best of it and enjoying every minute you have!
Oh congratulations to you! I love being an Aunt! My nieces and nephews are all grown up now, & I am really enjoying the grown up version of our relationship. They were fun when they were little too, but now it feels more like a friendship with them & it’s been fascinating. 🙂 enjoy all those special moments. You know…they grow up fast!!!

Oh, Becky,
This post is so moving. I am so sorry for your loss, and for your sisters’ children and grandchildren. So glad you all have each other. My Aunt Loena has been a great comfort to me since my mom died, as I am sure you are to your nieces.
Thank you for your kind words. You know, I try to be there for them, but I know it’s just not the same as having their mom there for them. My heart aches for my nieces (and my nephews too) but there’s just something about a mom and her daughter that can’t be replaced. I’m glad you have someone you can turn to for comfort. From my perspective in all of this, I know how I feel about my sisters’ kids, and I think I can speak for your Aunt too, when I say, we are honored to be here for you!
