Well, it looks like I get to check another state off my list of “states I have been too“! I’m pretty excited about this! It’s been awhile since we have been to another state, and it’s even more exciting to be able to check another state off my list!
We’re going to Florida! Miami to be exact.
Part business, part pleasure, but always fun when I get to be with my best friend!
The flight and car reservations have been made, now for the fun part, finding a nice hotel.
So, I thought to myself, hmmmm…I wonder, would any of my blogging friends be willing to recommend a nice hotel to stay in while in the Miami area?
I’ll be doing my research online, but I’m open to some wonderful suggestions!
Oh, and if you have any tips on things to see or do while I’m there, I would be interested in hearing about that too! We are only going to be there for a few days, but I’m curious to hear what the “must-do” thing would be while visiting Florida!
Have fun! One of my best friends lives outside of Miami. You’ll enjoy it so much!!
Thanks! I’m looking forward to it. Never wanted to go to Florida before, but as I check stuff out, it actually looks interesting!
Where in Miami are you going to be? Downtown, Miami Beach? Grew up in Fort Lauderdale and then after I moved away mom moved to Brickell Ave in downtown Miami so you are talking my old stomping grounds.
Oh yeah! This was exactly what I was hoping for! The event is going to be at: The US Coast Guard Causeway Island, so I think we would like to stay in downtown Miami Beach?
Someplace where it’s safe for me to be by myself during the day, and see things too!
If you want to stay in Fort Lauderdale I would highly recommend the Riverside Inn on Las Olas Blvd. I grew up in the Las Olas Isles and we had our wedding reception there. Lovely historic inn and it puts you in the heart of downtown Ft. Lauderdale where you can walk along the river walk, eat fantastic food, take a river taxi, go by my old house (can’t miss that!) and it would put you about 40 minutes north of downtown Miami. Oh, and you can eat at Dirty Ernies. Oh my goodness, my mind is racing!!!
This sounds great! Keep the ideas coming…I think we might want to stay in the Miami Beach area though…got any suggestions for there?
The Doral is were I have stayed but that was in, oh, the 70’s so I can’t vouch for it now! I will call mom as she is my Miami source. I will write (yet again) after we have spoken.
You’re awesome Charlotte! 🙂 Thank you so much!
Riverside Hotel. Good grief, all the brain cylinders are firing at once and I can’t think straight! 🙂
Ohhh, I just checked it out – it’s beautiful! We might be able to make that work for one of the nights 🙂
It would be worth it for the night. Fort Lauderdale is awesome. And the Las Olas area is delightful. 410 Isle of Palms, that was were I grew up. The homes are ridiculously gorgeous, all waterfront and just blocks from the beach. Oh, now I am homesick!!! 🙂
Well, that sure sounds delightful, that’s for sure! But now I’m really jealous! You grew up just blocks from the beach!! 🙂
We love to explore when we are traveling, so I think I’m going to have to explore the house that Charlotte grew up in! That’s just awesome!
I would think the whole trip would be planned around it! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Changing my plans as we type! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Kinda taking over your comments section here, sorry ’bout that. Just called mom and she said, “Oh my, I’ve been gone from Miami for 13 years and it has changed so much, but…” If you want historic South Beach she recommended The Century – very Art Deco. Mid Beach she said The Fontainebleau – harkens back to the days of Frank Sinatra visits. These are all probably super expensive, hope you have a generous travel expense account! But hey, you’re worth it!!! 🙂
No worries, it’s been fun! Thanks for the suggestions, I’m going to check them all out & I’ll let you know what I come up with. I will probably be back with more questions before we go. Can’t wait to see your house! Let me know if you think of anything else!
Oh & Charlotte….you’re the best! 🙂
