My husband still has this annoying cough. The one that’s been hanging around for a few months now. (I know, I think he needs to go to the Doctor too, but…)
It’s a frustrating situation actually. You don’t feel sick, and most of the time its unnoticeable, but every once in a while, it comes back with a vengeance, just to remind you, it’s not gone yet!
But I think I found something! I found it on Pinterest! I was cruising around, looking at recipes, and I came across a home remedy for the “hacking cough”!
It has 4 ingredients. Simple enough. I have all of the ingredients. Why not give it a try!
Apple Cider Vinegar – Honey – Ginger – Cayenne…and some water
MAGGIE’S COUGH REMEDY
- 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne
- 1/4 teaspoon Ginger
- 1 Tablespoon Cider Vinegar
- 2 Tablespoon Water
- 1 Tablespoon Honey
Dissolve cayenne and ginger in cider vinegar and water. Add honey and shake (stir) well. Take 1 Tablespoon as needed for cough.
A few nights ago, as he was experiencing a non-stop coughing episode, I mentioned my new find, and asked him if he was interested.
At that point, he was willing to give just about anything a try.
I mixed up a batch, gave it to him, and it actually helped! It calmed down the cough, and cut through all the yucky stuff lingering in his throat.
It’s safe, (although not for children 1 and under) it’s effective, and it doesn’t taste as bad as the nasty over the counter cough syrup that usually doesn’t work anyway!
He calls it “liquid fire“. I call it relief. And quite possibly a cure for this annoying cough!
