Thankful Thursday: A gift silent, still, and strong

A gift Silent, Still and Strong….

1. I’m thankful for this silent moment spent in my garden reading my niece’s first published book, Crooked River.

2. I’m thankful for this beautiful place where I live, and for the opportunities I have to just be still and soak it all in.

3. And I am extremely thankful for his strong little arms that love and hold us with all their might…and show off a little from time-to-time too!

Those strong arms!

These are just a few of the things that I am so very thankful for on this “Thankful Thursday“.

It’s really true that there is always something to be thankful for, you just have to keep looking!

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts Entwined

3 gifts entwined…to twine or twist, to be together.

1. When I think of something that “entwines” me…that I am thankful for, I am immediately drawn to my family.  The lives of these 3 people wrapped around mine…mixing and mingling and contributing to make me the person I am today.

My siblings.

All older than me, each unique in their own way, each one so very special to me.  I’m thankful for each one of them, and the way that they entwined their lives with mine. It’s true, I probably didn’t always feel this way about them when I was growing up, but as an adult, I certainly can and do appreciate their love for me, and I’m so thankful for the time I had with them.

2. I’m thankful for my very own “secret garden”, and the flowers and vines that grow in it.  Twisting and turning, entwined around fences and trees, bringing something beautiful to brighten my day.

3. Unique and cherished…entwined by love…these 4 lives have touched my heart in a way I never imagined possible. My husband, and my 3 grandchildren.

Each one of them has crawled right into my heart and entwined themselves around every inch of it!

I love them so much, and I’m thankful for each and every moment I get to spend with them.

They are my life!

These are just a few of the many things that I am thankful for today. It’s important to stop…take a moment…and reflect on the good things in life.

Will you join me in counting the blessings on your journey through life?

Thankful Thursday: 3 gifts round

3 gifts round…

1.  I’m thankful for the round sun. For the warmth that it brings during the day, and for that never-ending moment of awe, when I get to watch it “fall down” into the ocean!

2. I’m thankful that there are still these moments in life when it really doesn’t take a lot to bring joy to someone else.  We took our grandkids to Toys R Us (oh my!) and they each had a dollar to spend.  A dollar isn’t much in a store of that size, but much to my grandson’s delight, we found these round marbles…priced at $1.00.  Perfect!

3.  And last, but not least…I’m thankful that Opening Day for baseball is right around the corner!  I’m looking forward to seeing this round ball hit out of the park a few times…but only by my team of course!

Thankful Thursday: 3 gifts summer

For most of the world, Summer is winding down and transitioning to Fall.  For those of us fortunate enough to live in Southern California, Summer will still be around for a few more weeks!

So my 3 gifts of summer are….

1.  The ocean and the beach, bring sweet relief in the heat of summer.

La Jolla, CA

2.  The flowers of summer, bloom bright and beautiful!

Plumeria

3. The fun and the folly of kids playing in the sun.

“All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.”
L.M. Montgomery

I must agree with her, it has been a summer to remember, full of so many wonderful moments to be thankful for! These are just a few of a multitude of a heart full of good things!

Thankful Thursday: 3 gifts in jars

3 gifts in jars…

1. The seashells in this jar are a great reminder to me of vacations spent with my family playing at the beach and in the ocean.  I’m so thankful for those special memories.

2. The scented wax warms gently in this jar, and brings a pleasant aroma to my home. I’m thankful for how easy it easy to make my house smell like fresh baked cookies! 🙂

3. Leaving the best for last…peanut butter in a jar.  An all-time favorite at our house. Goes great with apples! If you have never tried it, you should! I’m really thankful I did!

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts Framed by a Frame

3 Gifts framed by a frame….

An interesting challenge – when I think of things that are framed, I think of pictures.

The love of my life is framed in this frame.  A wonderful husband, and a very good friend!  In fact, he is my best friend!  We are happiest when we are together.  I am so very thankful for him and for our marriage!

Another thing framed in a frame is our house, and the windows in our house! The frame that holds the house together, and the windows that let in the light.   I’m so thankful for the frame that holds our little house together. It’s such a good place to call home.

And of course, these three little lives are all framed by one frame, but each one is so unique and special in their own way.  They’ve captured my heart.  I love watching them learn and grow, and giving them Grandma kisses every chance I get!
