Thankful Thursday

There are so many things to be thankful for…but the one thing that stands out the most in my mind today, is love.

I am so thankful for the love that I receive from my family and my friends…they make me a better person, and I can’t imagine living life without them!

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts Unexpected

3 Gifts Unexpected

1. I received this “unexpected gift” for  Mother’s Day, it’s a  San Diego Padres flag, and I love it!  I’m so thankful for my daughter and her thoughtfulness when it comes to gift giving. It fits perfectly in my garden, and she knew that it would!

2. My one and only granddaughter…her birthday was not unexpected, nor was it a surprise, but being invited to celebrate her special day with her was very unexpected, and for this, I am so very thankful.

3. What makes a game winning baseball game even better? The gift of an unexpected fireworks show after the win! It was spectacular, and fun, and yes, even something as silly as fireworks can be something to be thankful for!

That’s it for this Thankful Thursday!

I hope that you will take a moment to contemplate all the “unexpected gifts” that are out there for you to be thankful for, and maybe even write down two or three of them!

When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.”  ~ G.K. Chesterton

Thankful Thursday: A gift in sky, water, and memory

A gift in sky, water, and memory:

1. I’m so thankful for the gift of the clouds in the sky! I love a clear blue sky, but those clouds…they always seem to capture my attention. I love the different shapes and textures, colors and designs, it truly is art in motion.

2. Another mesmerizing view…the big blue ocean. There are many moments when I find myself staring out onto this beautiful body of water, and I think to myself…I live here!

Yes! I am very thankful for this.

3. A moment I will never forget, turned into a memory I will always treasure. The beauty and the bliss of sitting at The Beach Bar in Guam, just watching the waves go by. I am very thankful for the opportunity to visit this amazing place, and certainly wouldn’t mind going back to this view.

Thankful Thursday – 3 Gifts Flourishing

3 Gifts Flourishing…

flourishing“: developing rapidly and successfully; thriving

1. Last week I took a much-needed break and went to the beach and just sat and stared at the ocean. I was inspired by the flourishing sights, sounds, and smells…I’m so thankful for this gift and the restoration it brought to my soul.

2. Well, for now, I’m thankful that the Charger’s are “flourishing.  I hope they can keep this up!

3. And then there’s these guys…I’m thankful for their good health, and that their little bodies are growing and flourishing.  It seems to me that they are indeed, the pure essence of flourishing.

My Amazing Grandkids

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a “Thankful Thursday” – not because I haven’t been “Thankful”, more because I just haven’t done it!

But I’m back, and these are just a few of the many things that I am so very thankful for on this Thankful Thursday.

Have you looked for something to be thankful for today?

Go ahead, give it a try…I think you’ll be glad you did.

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts Together

3 Gifts Together…

1. I’m thankful for these moments when I get to join my daughter and my grandson as they experience the joy and wonder of exploring new things together.

2. I’m always thankful when I see how well my flowers and the sun go together!

3. It’s a little hard to get all three of these kids looking in the same direction, at the same time, with a decent look on their face, but I sure do love it when we are all together.

It’s one of my favorite places to be, and I am so very thankful for them.

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts of Endings

3 Gifts of Endings….

1. I’m so thankful for the time, energy and strength to work at bringing an “ending” to this room in our house! An edition that has been well used, but was not well-built.

After many, many years of discussing the fact that we need to tear it down, there is no turning back now!

2. I’m always thankful for a happy ending to a baseball game! Opening game of the season and the Padres won! Although the season hasn’t gone quite as well as everyone had hoped for, it’s still fun, and I still enjoy the wins when they come.

Like they say…there’s always next year 🙂

3. And then there was this.

How could I not be anything but thankful for this?

A glorious ending to another day…another day to be thankful for my eyesight and the fact that I am able to actually see this beautiful sight.

These are just a few of the many things that I am so very thankful for on this Thankful Thursday.

Thankful Thursday: A gift of peace, of hope, of love

It’s another “Thankful Thursday”, and it’s a beautiful one at my house.  There is always, always something to be thankful for…and I’m always looking!

Today, I’m looking for a  gift of peace, of hope, of love…

1. I’m so thankful for the gift of peace that I find when I spend time in this little place I call my “secret garden”.

It keeps me busy, it’s challenging, and probably keeps me from going a little bit crazy too!

2.  And I am so thankful for the hope I have in heaven, and the joy of being reunited with these three once again.  My two sisters, and my Dad. All three taken from this world much too soon.  All three, missed dearly for oh so many reasons.

Some days, just a little bit more than others, but always missed.

3. And the greatest of these is love…I’m very thankful for this guy. He is the love of my life, my husband, and my very best friend. I can’t imagine my life without him, I don’t even like to let my brain go there.

I am so thankful, for his love for me…I am truly blessed.

My best friend

These are just a few of the things that I am so very thankful for today. My heart is full of “good things”.

How about you? Take a moment, reflect on your day, and look for the good things, and if you feel inclined to share, I would love to hear what they are!

Until then, keep looking for the good things…they are out there. I promise.

Life is not just about the good things or not just about the bad things. It is both. It all depends where you focus your attention.” ~ Ann Marie Aguilar

Thankful Thursday: a gift dull, shimmering and cleaned

A gift dull, shimmering and cleaned

1. It’s a little hard to find something “dull” that I am actually thankful for.  I did however find something that was dull, and at this very moment I was thankful that it was turned upside down and on the ground!

It was very hard to be thankful for this, at least for me anyway.  I guess the golfers are probably the only ones that are truly thankful for this. 🙂

2.  I found myself in complete awe on this day…..surrounded by God’s handiwork.  The setting sun, the light shimmering on the sand and the water…the opportunity to live so close and see this beauty is a gift I am so very thankful for.

3.  And…I am so thankful for this…the rain that has finally come today to clean the air, feed the plants and the grass, and give us the water that we so desperately need.

These are just a few of the many things that I am thankful for today. It’s important to stop…take a moment…and reflect on the good things in life.

Thankful Thursday: A gift outside, inside, on a plate

1. A gift outside:

I’m so thankful for the outside places like this that offer our grandchildren hours of fun, and give me wonderful, random moments like this!

R at the park

2. A gift inside:

Recently we had all 3 grandchildren inside our car when we took them on a little adventure! The picture is a little fuzzy, but the moment together was priceless!

3. A gift on a plate:

My husband isn’t much of a cake fan, and I know it’s not on a plate, but it ended up on a plate.  So for his birthday, I made his favorite, homemade apple pie. My gift to him! And yes…he was VERY thankful!

Starting out the New Year with a heart full of thanks!

I hope you’ll join me on this journey, because, there is always something to be thankful for.

Always!
