Thankful Thursday

There are so many things to be thankful for…but the one thing that stands out the most in my mind today, is love.

I am so thankful for the love that I receive from my family and my friends…they make me a better person, and I can’t imagine living life without them!

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts Unexpected

3 Gifts Unexpected

1. I received this “unexpected gift” for  Mother’s Day, it’s a  San Diego Padres flag, and I love it!  I’m so thankful for my daughter and her thoughtfulness when it comes to gift giving. It fits perfectly in my garden, and she knew that it would!

2. My one and only granddaughter…her birthday was not unexpected, nor was it a surprise, but being invited to celebrate her special day with her was very unexpected, and for this, I am so very thankful.

3. What makes a game winning baseball game even better? The gift of an unexpected fireworks show after the win! It was spectacular, and fun, and yes, even something as silly as fireworks can be something to be thankful for!

That’s it for this Thankful Thursday!

I hope that you will take a moment to contemplate all the “unexpected gifts” that are out there for you to be thankful for, and maybe even write down two or three of them!

When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude.”  ~ G.K. Chesterton

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts Found in my Mom

3 Gifts Found in my Mom:

1. My mom…she is an amazing lady who has experienced more pain in her lifetime than probably any one person ever should have to experience.  Through it all, she has managed to keep this amazing smile on her face, and in her eyes.

I’m thankful for her determination to stay strong, forever young at heart, and never, ever give up on life!

My mom and her beautiful smile!

2. Next to her family, her greatest passion in life is to teach….anything! From Chinese Checkers to English as a Second Language, and everything in between.  She loves to lead the way in the learning experience, and watch the “lights” turn on in the eyes of her “students”.

I am so thankful for her passion to help others improve and learn.

3. Most of all…I am thankful for my Mom’s unconditional love for me.  I haven’t always made life easy for her, you know how it goes in those angsty teen-age years, but in spite of me and all the dumb stuff I did (or didn’t do) she has always loved me and made sure that I knew it!

I’m very thankful for her never-ending, unconditional love for me!

Thanks Mom! I love you!

Thankful Thursday: 3 gifts Opened Up

3 Gifts Opened Up

1. I’m thankful for these beautiful flowers that grow in my back yard.  When they are all opened up…the smell that is released into the air can be somewhat intoxicating! It’s a pure delight.

2. I’m thankful that my daughter has introduced the wonderful world of books and the library to my grandson.  No matter your age, when a book is opened up, a whole new world is waiting for you.  This little guy loves to go on adventures, and I know he will have a lifetime full of them, especially if he keeps this up.

3.  Today is the home opener for the Padres! I am very thankful for this day and I’m looking forward to the game and to when this bag of peanuts gets opened up at the ballgame!

Go Padres!

So many things to be thankful for…these are just a few of my favorites today. How about you? What things have “opened up” for you that you can be thankful for?

Gratitude helps you to grow and expand; gratitude brings joy and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.

Thankful Thursday: 3 Gifts almost gone

3 Gifts almost gone:

1. I’m thankful for the opportunity and the ability to make these hats for Knitting Rays of Hope! This awesome group of ladies, collects loom hats from a variety of sources (they even find the time to make some themselves!) Knitting Rays of Hope puts them all together, each hat is tagged with a word of encouragement and then donated to NICU babies and cancer patients.  I am so inpsired by these ladies, and so thankful that I get to be a part of this amazing project.

I finally boxed my contribution of hats up and sent them on their way, so they are more than almost gone….they’re gone!

2. I’m thankful for these sweet little oranges that grow on our tree. Yes…they are almost gone, they’re just too good to leave hanging on the tree.

3. These delicious muffins are almost gone…I’m thankful that I made them! They were delicious 🙂

That’s it for today!  Well, there’s always more to be thankful for, and I am thankful for so much more than just these three things, but this is just a little start to maybe get you thinking about all the things that you are thankful for today!

Take a few moments, look around you, and reflect on the good things in your life.

3 Gifts that made me laugh:

1. These two little kids certainly know how to make their Grandma smile and laugh with delight! I am so thankful that they are in my life, and for now…they really enjoy just hanging out with me! I hope it stays like this for a very, long time.

2. I can’t imagine life without my beautiful daughter and this amazing little guy! Just like his mama, he is pure joy! This special moment was brought to you by “frog” and a little belly laugh too!

2. There’s nothing quite like stepping in the cool sand and dipping your toes in the water at the ocean. I’m thankful for the moments that I spend here, relaxing and enjoying this beautiful place.

3. An awe-inspiring moment, and I’m so thankful that I just happened to be outside at the time that these white clouds did this cool thing! I think the picture is pretty amazing, but to experience it in person was so much better!

It was like I was surrounded by white cotton balls!

Amazing!

I am so thankful for all of these things, and oh so much more! In this crazy, messed up world, there are still a lot of good things to be thankful for, don’t forget to take a moment, look around, and find at least one thing to be thankful for today!

Thankful Thursday: 3 times I heard laughter

3 times I heard laughter:

1. I am very thankful that I can hear the sounds of laughter.

This is our little neighbor girl, and most days we can hear her squeals of laughter, and her tiny little voice coming from the other side of the fence, but we don’t see her.  What a fun surprise it was to look across our yard and actually see her peeking over the fence at us from her play house!

2.  This little guy and laughter, well they just go hand-in-hand. He wakes up in the morning with a smile on his face, and it usually doesn’t go away until oh, about nap time, and bedtime! I’m thankful that he is so happy, and brings a smile to the face of so many people.

3. I’m thankful that we had this opportunity, and that I could be a part of this once in a lifetime experience. His joy and laughter just couldn’t be held back any longer as he approached the 1st hole at Pebble Beach Golf Course.

Another Thankful Thursday, and like always, there is so much that I can find to be thankful for.  What a great gift I have been given to not only hear the sound of laughter, but to be able to experience the joy that laughter brings.

After all …. laughter really is the best medicine for the soul.

Go on, give it a try, laugh a little…or a lot, and see if it doesn’t just make you feel better!

I am thankful.

I am thankful for eyes to see the beauty of the water.  I’m thankful for clarity of mind to remember the special moments of my daughter’s childhood days. And I am thankful for the opportunity to experience new things and fly to places I have never been before.

A simple list of “thanks” today, but the value of these gifts goes beyond anything I could have ever imagined.

This is my Thankful Thursday.
